When planning a colour scheme for your rental, it’s important to consider the size and lighting of the room. If the room is small, light and neutral colours can help it feel larger and more open. If you have larger rooms, choosing a bolder colour scheme can help create a dramatic effect, like this one I did recently.

When choosing colours, try to pick ones that work together and compliment each other. Consider using complementary colours, such as blue and yellow, or purple and green. You can also use a combination of warm and cool tones to create a more balanced look.

It’s not true that everything needs to be grey and white. Whilst a minimalist approach does help, creating a space that a potential rentor can imagine as their own, too much grey can quickly turn people off.

Finally, keep in mind the purpose of the room. If the room is a bedroom, you may want to opt for a more muted palette to help create a calming atmosphere. We loved this mink colour, whilst it’s much bolder than grey but still has a calming effect, perfect for a relaxing bedroom space. If it’s a living room, you can go for something brighter and more vibrant but remember that whoever moves in, will want to create their own space anyway so don’t waste too much time decorating to your own taste when you know it’s likely to be changed.
