If you want to sell your home fast, here are my top 10 tips for achieving your goal. Hope they help!

  1. Declutter your space to make it look more spacious and organised.

Clutter is the number one cause of making rooms appear smaller than they really are. Not only because clutter actually takes up space, but also because the eyes are drawn to clutter and everything else narrows in perspective. Ever noticed why minimalistic rooms look so big? That’s why.

2. Give your walls a fresh coat of neutral paint to appeal to a wider range of buyers.

If you’re still rocking wallpaper from 1999 (no, it’s not retro), or have brightly coloured feature walls, now is the time to tone it down. You’re trying to appeal to a wide audience, so keep walls neutral and brighten them up with a fresh coat of paint.

3. Update light fixtures to brighten up the space and create a modern look.

It always amazes me when I see people go to the effort of re-decorating and modernising their homes, and then letting it down with wall scones from ten years ago, and light fixtures that just aren’t in fashion anymore. Don’t forget the small details! Replace light fixtures because although the new owners can do it themselves, you’re trying to help them imagine themselves living there, and this is one way to do that.

4. Add a few pieces of new, stylish furniture to give the space a fresh feel.

It doesn’t have to cost a lot. Perhaps a new rug, or a feature chair. If your furniture is old and worn, it will count against you. However, replacing all of your furniture is neither cost effective or practical, so overcome the problem by drawing the eye to newer pieces.

5. Make sure your windows are clean to let in as much natural light as possible.

This is another one that people forget about, their windows! All that hard work of new paint and get your home in pristine condition will be of little use if your windows look like back smoky messes. Remember, first impressions count for everything!

 6. Accessorise with a few well-placed items such as plants or artwork to add personality

Not only do accessories make a home more presentable, they make it feel more loved too. People love to buy a home with a story, and seeing that you once loved this home you’re now selling, gives them that. It demonstrates that it’s been well cared for. Yes, a fake potted plant from Ikea really can do that.

7. Deep clean your floors and carpets to make them look their best.

If getting down on your hands and knees Cinderella style doesn’t appeal to you, hire a steam cleaner or carpet cleaner, or ask a friend if you can borrow theirs. They aren’t expensive to loan, in fact, you can often find them for hire in big supermarket chains like Asda.

8. Remove any personal items or family photos to make it easier for buyers to imagine themselves in the space.

 Self explanatory, right?

 9. Create a cozy and inviting atmosphere with soft, comfortable textiles such as throw pillows or blankets

No matter what time of the year it is, these little home essentials really do help to create a sense of cosiness, and who doesn’t love a cosy home?

10. Make sure your outdoor space is well-maintained and tidy to create a good first impression

Yep, it’s not just your windows you need to think about. Your outdoor space should be well maintained too. Don’t go to all that effort on the inside, and then totally throw it away by introducing prospective buyers to knee high grass and moss covered slabs. Put the work in and the effort will pay off.
