Bathrooms easily become cluttered and are one of the rooms in a home that can actually make us feel stressed, which is ironic since it’s supposed to be a room that leaves us feeling calm and relaxed. A bathroom can be a sanctuary, a place for mothers to shut the door and sulky teenagers, or where kids can splash about in the bath having the time of their lives.
But when clutter is allowed to build, so can stress. The stress often comes from being overwhelmed by the clutter and mess. Toothpaste stains, overflowing cosmetic pots and too many tacky ornaments are all to blame.
If you want your bathroom to have a calming influence, follow these simple tips:
? Stick to a colour theme
? Don’t go overboard on ornaments, just one or two vases are fine, or a scented diffuser that looks like a vase is ideal
? Keep toiletries out of view, preferably inside a cabinet or vanity unit
? Keep on top of your bathroom cleaning regime, ensuring your toothbrush holder is not forgotten
? Avoid lots of slogan-based accessories, those B&M Bargain favourites ?
? Use a glass shower screen instead of shower curtains
? Keep only a few hand towels out at a time and have somewhere to store the rest
We all deserve one space in the home to feel relaxed so pay attention to the rooms that are supposed to do that for you and apply the same method as above. Keeping slogan signs to a minimum, these can often have the opposite effect of what they were intended, if they are sitting amongst heaps of laundry or overlooking soggy towels.
Keeping a minimilistic approach to at least one room, will help you to stay on top of it. Those toothpaste stains will get cleaned quicker, and you’re much more likely to feel like you’ve experienced a quick twenty minutes of serenity whenever you take a bath or shower.
