Are you responsible for hosting Christmas dinner this year?

Despite the fact the most important thing on Christmas day is togetherness, and making sure you don’t burn the turkey of course, we still worry about how beautiful our table is going to look ?

It’s the one time of year we really put the effort in, and we do it because we want our loved ones to feel special and to be happy ?

So here are my top tips for creating the perfect Christmas table:

? Make sure you have enough matching accessories, linens, place mats, etc
? Check your crockery for chips and scratches
? Choose a centrepiece, one that stands out but isn’t so in the way you will have to move it when dinner starts. A long pre-lit garland along the centre is always a show-stopper
? If you know Aunt Jo is going to argue with Cousin Steve, decide where people will sit yourself with place settings
? Buy crackers
? Include novelties, it’s always good fun
? Be prepared, make a list of what you’re serving so you can ensure you have enough bowls, plates etc. You won’t be able to dash out to Asda on the day!
? Choose a theme
? Candles and lights look lovely on the table, but don’t go overboard, we all get a bit hot under the collar whilst tucking into a Christmas roast
? Look at Pinterest boards for inspiration and keep costs down by going with DIY options
? Cover tatty chairs with linen chair covers

Most importantly, have a lovely day, and enjoy being with those you care about most in the world.
